Stop yer Bitching...

I think I'll stray a little here, but please bear with me. Read the whole thing first, OK? Thanks, I knew you'd understand. I just have to vent a little over this oil company price gouging thing. You see, it represents everything that is wrong with everything right now, but not how you think. Most people here think they want to live in a democracy, and they think and say that capitalism is good. Why is then that they start bitching when these companies make profits? People are saying "these companies don't care about the people" and they're right. The question is when were companies supposed to ever care about people? Capitalism is about making profit. period. So what happens? We'll have 'congressional debates' about it. It should be noted now that nobodies getting in any trouble for this, and they shouldn't. Regulations aren't going to do anything. When will people realize that a free market takes care of itself? Government regulations only further the problem, no matter what it is. What should happen is consumers should get pissed and buy gas elsewhere. That's how a free market works. Do not reward and bail out bad companies. Do not give you business to bad companies. Then the bad companies will go away. When corporations are rewarded for good behaviour, good business practices and good products with people's business, we win. It sure sounds simple, and that's because it is. And it works. Now about this price gouging business, the governmental response will be to tax the oil companies. In other words: it's OK as long as the government gets it's cut. Nothing will be done to help you. The gubment doesn't care whether you live or die, corporate america would prefer you live, but only so they can take your money. If you're really so mad about oil prices, get a job close to home and sell your fucking car. Cheers!

Chicken Pickin'
November 3, 2005
Well, we all had our suspicions (I hope) about how incredibly ridiculous this whole 'bird flu' thing is. As you know, whenever it's time for everyone to be scared all you have to do is poke around a bit and you'll see someone else is getting obscenely rich. And like the chemical attack scares of a few years ago that sent all the duct tape heirs on holiday to Dubai, the Avian Flu is no different. Do they really expect me to believe I'm supposed to be worried? Let's think about it; China has what, 1.4 BILLION people? And how many people have died from this? 62? I've got a far better chance of winning the lottery....twice. For those of you who haven't paid attention or have severe short term memory loss, this happened last year too. It wasn't bird flu, but it was the panic over a shortage of flu shots. I'm 34 years old and I've never had a flu shot in my life. Nobody I know ever got flu shots and yet miraculously we're all still alive. Oh yeah, the profits.... It turns out that the company that developed and patented Tamiflu, which is what they're saying is the panacea we all need for survival, has a major stockholder by the name of Donald Rumsfeld. Imagine that. As matter of fact he has 18 million dollars worth of stock. As a matter of fact until 2001 he was the CEO of said company. Of course they're trying to keep this all on the DL...... What a dick.
