  • That's how I roll yo....

    September 21, 2005

What's happening folks. It's been a month since I've been here, which is really bad. We've had floods of biblical proportions, epic storms, treaties, deaths, more and more and more bullshit, and someone stabbed a dolphin in Australia. hmmm....cycle of life. I've been a pretty busy guy myself so I'll just take this opportunity to fill you in.
    In the past month:
I bought a car. I had to because a crazy, old, secret double agent of both the U.S. and German governments stole my car. In the 60's this guy talked Kruschev out of bombing Disneyland, so apparently he means business.
I was going to do some sub work for a blues band out of Nashville, but I didn't get the gig because I was too "modern". More on this later.
I went to a stranger's wedding. It was someone from the band The Biscuit Burners I think. They are, by the way, a kickass band. I went to their house after the wedding (great food!) and played bluegrass tunes till 7 in the morning.
I played a traditional gig way up in the mountains for a bunch of really really old people. They all had taps on their shoes and were clogging like nobody's business.
I went and sat in with Shanti Groove. These guys are good, check em out. This was of course another 7 am picking night.
I recorded 3 tracks with my friend Skechy Burns from L.A., the drummer from Nickelback, and Kelly Osbourne's guitarist. Rock and Roll.
I installed outdoor speakers at my house. Oh so sweet.
I slid down a 60 ft. waterfall. The water was damn cold but it was worth it.
I went and saw the Steep Canyon Rangers the other night. They are really really good. Check em out.
I might have a background part in a horror movie spoof. More on this as it develops.
I met this kid named Mark from Dublin last week. He gave me a shirt that says "Dublin".
Upright on the way. I'll post pics when I get it.
My good friend Jack Trifiro, who used to be Jiggle's front of house soundguy, is now FOH sound for the illustrious Victor Wooten. Well done Jack.
My friend Stew Mckinsey, an amazing 10 string bass player from New Orleans lost everything including instruments. This is where people can help. My thoughts go out to Stew wherever he is.
I'm learning how to play guitar now. It's fun even though I suck. I like being able to sit around and pick songs and not just basslines. (I still like bass waaaaaaaaay better though.)

OK, that pretty much brings us up to date. Just another boring month in the Smoky Mountains.
